Star Wars Day at Frank & Son Update

Quick update on Star Wars Day at the Frank & Son Show. Hal Hefner and I will be working on sketch cards set up as exclusives by and for the event. There are a limited number of cards.

Mat Nastos appearing at Star Wars Day at Frank & Son Show

Hey, all!

Just got word that I’m going to be a part of Star Wars Day on February 20, 2010 at the Frank & Son show here in Southern California. The event is going to be insane, with Ray Park (Darth Maul), Daniel Logan (Boba Fett) and the 501st all making an appearance. I’ll be there doing Star Wars sketchcards. I believe we’re going to have a table right up front near the guests, but the Comic Book Art Institute Booth (#807) will be open and active with some additional Star Wars related artwork and merchandise, so make sure to check us out at both locations.

First two Sketchcard Sets by Mat Nastos

As many of you know, I’ve been on a bit of a sketchcard kick of late. The format is an absolute blast to work in and I’ve done a bunch of cards over the past month. Following that topic, I’d like to announce that I’ll be participating in my first couple of official trading/sketch card sets. The first one is for the Pediatric Oncology Treasure Chest Foundation (http://www.treasurechest.org). The Treasure Chest Foundation is dedicated to helping out kids with cancer and I’m honored to get to be a part of that. I’ll be doing 50 original art sketchcards for the set, which is due out later on this year. I believe the event takes place at the Chicagoland Entertainment Collectors Expo.

The second set is for the fine people over at 5Finity (http://www.5finity.com/) and is called “P’Ups,” which is short for “Pin Ups and Puppies.” That’s right, I’ll be doing 30 cards for the trading card set dedicated to hot chicks and dogs…two things I love.

Keep an eye on this spot in the upcoming weeks for a glimpse into the art I’m producing for the sets and for more information on when they’ll be released.

Batman Commission

At last, here is the colored cover artwork for my 2010 Elf Sketchbook. Line work by me, colors by Hal Hefner. My 2010 Elf Sketchbook will contain elf-related pictures from ElfSong, my time at ElfQuest and my even earlier fascination with all things elven in nature. New Barry Blair Website: Studio RealmWalkers

Hey, all!

No new artwork to post today — I’m waiting for my new 11×17 scanner so I can start getting art in myself without having to trek out in to the cold to go to the nearest Kinko’s. In the meantime, tho, for those of you who are fans of the work of Barry Blair (Elfquest New Blood (and lots more), ElfLord, Samurai, Dragonring and about 50 other titles), there is some pretty big news. Barry has a new fantasy art website up and running called “Studio RealmWalkers.” It is absolutely loaded with the very cool fantasy work of Barry Blair (and his colorist extraordinaire, Colin Walbridge).

Barry’s work has been sadly absent from most of the internet up until now and it’s great to get to see a huge amount of it online — and Barry promises to add more every week! Check it out:
